Ken Olson - Bamboo Rod Restoration and Refinishing

Ken Olson

Bamboo Fly Rods, Restoration and Refinishing.

Ten years experience building, refinishing and restoring bamboo fly rods. I can provide references upon request.

Average cost for repair, refinishing, or restoring is $125 plus $10 shipping. This cost includes removing old varnish and revarnishing, matching threads and re-wrapping, minimum guide replacement, straightening, and minimum repairs. If the rod is delaminated or repair is more extensive (ferrule replacement/resetting, building a new tip, handle replacement etc), the cost will increase. I will be able to tell what repairs or replacement are needed after I see the rod. A price will be agreed upon before I undertake the project.

Building, refinishing and restoring split cane rods is an art and I take the art seriously. I have approximately forty-five years fly fishing experience and fish only bamboo rods.
